John Fonseca began studying Nihon Goshin Aikido  in 1982

at the hombu dojo in Guttenburg, New Jersey, receiving a

shodan (first degree black belt) in 1987. He also crossed

trained Daito-ryu Aiki-Jujutsu, receiving a shodan in 1988.  He moved to Florida also in 1988 and became a corrections

officer with the Florida Department of Corrections, teaching defensive tactics.  He became a police officer with the city of Deland (FL) in 1994, including serving as a S.W.A.T. officer.

Sensei Fonseca currently teaches classes at Mushin Dojo

on Friday nights.
